David Batty

David Batty

BTAC Chairman

Engineering Director - Batneec Development Services

David has been in the transport industry for 45 years. He is the engineering director of BATNEEC Development Services, he has been the innovator of several tractor and trailer designs, and he has been a finalist on four occasions at the Motor Transport awards, and the winner in 2007 of the service to industry award.

He is an active member of the Royal Society of Arts and a member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers events committee..

Operations Manager Juratek Ltd

Colin has been involved in the transport industry since 1991, having completed a degree in Metallurgy at Manchester Metropolitan University, starting work for Lynx Express Delivery Network in October of that year.

Leaving Lynx in 1995 he spent three years at Swift Transport Services as a Traffic Operator, moving to Lex Multipart as a Warehouse Manager in 1998 until 2005.

From 2005 until 2008 he ran the national operation for First Line Logistics Ltd dealing with large blue chip clients such as Canon, Coca Cola and Mackay's Stores.

Colin is currently Operations Manager for Juratek Ltd.

Contract Fleet Manager - Pullman Fleet Services Ltd

Terry is a commercially aware Transport Engineer with professional qualifications. Currently Contract Fleet Manager for Pullman Fleet Services Ltd, he has worked for Somerfield Stores Ltd as Assistant Fleet Engineer and for both Jaguar & Ford.

Terry is registered with the Engineering Council as an Incorporated Engineer; is a Member of the Society of Operations Engineers (IRTE Division) and has an HNC in Vehicle Engineering.

Principal - Pegasus Logistics Engineering Ltd

David currently runs his own business that offers varying specialist services to fleet operators.

For a number of years he worked for a major fleet operator as distribution services manager and is time served in the traditional sense of the word.

David is currently an Incorporated Engineer, Member of Society of Operating Engineers, Member of the Chartered Institute of Transport and Logistics and a Fellow of the Institute of the Motor Industry.


Nick Matthews

Principal - Transport Answers Ltd

Nick has been involved in transport since 1978, serving from 1978 to 1999 as a Police Traffic officer, specialising in road traffic law.

From 2003 to early 2007 he was the Logistics & Transport Manager for the UK's largest privately owned shipping company.

Since early 2007 he was the National Transport Manager for the Lavendon Group PLC, the world leader in powered access.

Leaving in August 2008 to set up his own consultancy business Transport Answers Ltd, offering his unique perspective and practical solutions gained from enforcement work and operating transport as a profit industry.

Currently an Ambassador for the Freight Best Practice program, through which advice is given to the transport industry to save fuel and reduce CO2 emissions.

Area Manager Central Weighing Ltd

I have been involved with the Transport Industry since 1995 working for Central Weighing as Area Sales Manager specializing in protecting fleets against overloading on either individual axles or gross weights.

My involvement with BTAC started at that time assisting in the Annual Fuel Evaluation Event held at Mira and support of the Annual Consult. Developing an interest in transport and the issues that concerned managers and engineers in carrying there day to day duties. The expertise contained within the organization has been utilized by my customers to help assist in their business.
