Andrew J. H. Davis

Andrew has diesel in his blood, having been brought-up in a family transport business in Gloucester.
The experience of a small business enables Andrew to have a large degree of empathy with the thousands
of operators in the UK. Maintaining cost-effective and adopting "best-practice" standards has been a
constant theme throughout Andrew's career and this is his focus for the Carlsberg LogEx roll-out.
Andrew was previously the General Manager for Palletline plc based at the Birmingham hub. Before that,
Andrew worked for different PLCs in a variety of fleet engineering and operational roles, including Bass
Brewers and Transport Development Group and Lane Group PLC. Andrew is an Incorporated Engineer, Member of
Society of Operating Engineers and Chartered Member of Institute of Transport.

Nick Matthews

Nick is the newly appointed Transport Manager for Panther Platform Rentals, part of the Lavendon Group PLC,
world's largest powered access specialist. Established in 1978 Panther Platform Rentals is a recognised market
leader in the provision of powered access equipment.
Currently an Ambassador for the Freight Best Practice program, through which advice is given to the transport industry to save fuel and reduce CO2 emissions.
Nick's background is over 20 years in law enforcement, specialising in road traffic law and for the past 5 years as an operational transport manager.

Gordon Spooner

Gordon "retired" from VT in February 2007 where he had been Quality &
Technical Manager since April 2006, responsible for support of the 10-year
contract that VT had with the Metropolitan Police for the R & M of around 3200
vehicles. Prior to that, he had the same position with Venson Group plc.
Following an apprenticeship with Standard Triumph in Coventry, Gordon worked
for Ford Motor Company, BT Motor Transport ending up as Head of Vehicle
Provision, British Rail as National Road Transport Manager, and joined the
Metropolitan Police in 1990 as Principal Transport Engineer. He was Head of MPS
Vehicle Workshops, responsible for over 200 technical and support staff in
maintenance and repair of over 4500 vehicles (including boats), He recently
worked for Gloucestershire Constabulary as Interim Transport Services Manager.
Gordon is a Chartered Engineer, a Member of the Institute of Mechanical
Engineers, Fellow of the Society of Operations Engineers, and Fellow of the
Institute of Road Transport Engineers. Gordon currently runs his own
consultancy company, Spooner & Spooner.

Roger Denniss

Roger was one of the founder members of BTAC. He is a qualified Tribologist and Motor Claims Assessor and a
Registered Expert witness dealing with Automotive design, construction and operation including health and safety issues.
He is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of The Institution of Mechanical Engineers. He is a Honorary Fellow of The
Society of Operation Engineers and a Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Road Transport Engineers.
Currently he runs Lorry Logic (1980) which is a Engineering consultancy business and he is also The American
Trucking Association's European representative. His previous employers include: Vauxhall and Bedford, RAF, Joe Lyons,
Eclipse Motor Policies at Lloyds of London, Denniss bespoke shoe makers of Ealing, Shell Mex and BP and Bass plc.

Martin Parrack

Martin is currently area sales manager for Central Weighing Limited, specialising in protecting fleets from
overloading on axles as well as gross and fleet management software.
Worked for Central Weighing for 11 years. Married with a son and daughter, he enjoys weighing fleets and caravanning,
when not assisting as a Civilian Instructor with the local Air Training Corps.

Jon York

Fleet Operations Manager - British Gas |

Jon York is the British Gas Fleet Operations Manager responsible for commercial fleet design and safe operation
for 9,500 vehicles. Jon develops and manages the provision of a wide range of fleet management services to ensure
vehicles are operating within the law, corporate risk policy and environmental requirements, at best cost to the business.
Jon is registered with the Engineering Council as an Incorporated Engineer and a member of the Society of Operations
Engineers and Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.
Under the guidance of Jon York, British Gas has introduced a range of award winning fleet safety initiatives to help
keep its drivers safe through raising awareness and driver development, The awards during 2007 recognise Jon's hard
work through implementing a number of interventions aimed at increasing road safety and reducing fuel consumption.

Peter Macleod

Distribution Manager - Frederic Robinson

Peter completed a Diploma in Automotive Engineering Management from Stevenson College, Edinburgh
in 1987, which incorporated Institute of Road Transport Engineers examinations. He then pursued a
career in Transport Management working in general haulage, pallet & parcel distribution before
joining Frederic Robinson Ltd (Robinson's Brewery) in 1993.
Peter's role at Robinson's is to ensure beers, wines & spirits and other beverages are delivered
to over 400 inns and hotels and free trade customers. His responsibilities include Transport,
Warehouse, Sales Order Processing and Fleet Management in addition to being responsible for the
Stable Staff looking after the Company's shire horses. Robinson's is a family run Brewery based
in the North West of England.
He joined BTAC in 2000 and has a particular interest in driver training & development.

David Payne

David currently runs his own business that offers varying specialist services to fleet operators.
For a number of years he worked for a major fleet operator as distribution services manger and is
time served in the traditional sense of the word.
David is currently an Incorporated Engineer, Member of Society of Operating Engineers, Member of the
Chartered Institute of Transport and Logistics and a Fellow of the Institute of the Motor Industry.
